The next all-Island meeting of the Isle of Wight Green Party will be held at 7pm to 9pm on Monday 1st August 2016 at the Underwood Bar, Apollo Theatre, Pyle Street, Newport PO30 1JT, near the corner of Town Lane. All Green Party supporters and people interested in Green politics are welcome.

Following the Island Roads PFI roll-out of over 12,000 new LED street lights, the Isle of Wight Green Party has produced a free two-page PDF briefing for communities on the mainland and beyond. This document advises councillors and community activists to scrutinise proposed street lighting replacements with care.

An EU referendum debate will be held on the 1st April at the Anthony Minghella Theatre, Quay Arts, Sea Street, Newport PO30 5BD, starting at 6:30pm. This public debate will be a free event for all Islanders. Tickets will not be required, although seats can be reserved on a first-come, first served basis, due to limited seating in the theatre.

Michael Lilley is the Chief Executive of a mental health charity with a base on the Island. Michael lives in the Ryde East ward and is standing for the Greens in the Ryde Town Council by-election on March 10th.

Keith Taylor MEP and Green Party Leader Natalie Bennett visited the Isle of Wight to support the launch of ‘Green Island’ which aims to expand the Island's community energy projects and embed Green policies to support Island jobs, businesses and renewable technologies.

In the General Election for the Westminster parliament, Green candidate Vix Lowthion achieved 9,404 votes (13.4%) on the Isle of Wight. This was one of the highest results for the Green Party in the whole of the UK, beating Labour, Liberal Democrat and independent candidates. Vix Lowthion, a lecturer in geography, has been selected to contest the Isle of Wight constituency in the upcoming General Election in 2015. Also a mother of three, Vix has lived on the Isle of Wight for the last decade and is an avid walker and Solent swimmer.

Keith Taylor has been re-elected as the Green Party’s Member of the European Parliament for South East England, a regional constituency which includes the Isle of Wight. Keith was re-elected with 211,706 votes across the region.
